I’m always told by people I run into “Be Humble…” Do they even know the definition of which they speak? Apparently not! Never be humble!
I was told today I need to be more humble. It had me thinking on the way home. Once I arrived home, I sat down here at my desk and looked it up. Merriam-Webster defines ‘humble’ as not proud… not assertive… submissive… and the one that got my attention… INSIGNIFICANT! Stop wishing this on people! Therefore, why would you tell somebody to be INSIGNIFICANT?? You should never be humble… submissive… insignificant.
Continuing my search, I found a number of articles about why you should not be humble. One article, “The 10 things you don’t need to be humble about” really jumped out at me.
I Will Never Be Humble
I have a great full-time job that I am extremely happy with. This pays my bills. I am grateful for this. GRATEFUL! Again, I will never be humble. there is nothing wrong with wanting to better yourself. Be hungry for more.
Be HUNGRY!
There is nothing wrong in the first place with being happy in your life. Be grateful for what you have and have accomplished. You have probably worked hard and know a lot about what you do. With this in mind, why did you stop there? Did you cross the finish line before the rest of us? Instead, be hungry.
Today I challenge you. Start something new now, rather than later. Don’t wait until new years eve just to end up wasting another year. Act now! Pick up an instrument. Dive into investing. Start that workout routine you have been putting off. Learn a new language. Maybe become a professional writer?
Secondly, find someone to inspire you. Find a mentor. Follow somebody that can inspire you on social media. Find out who inspires somebody you admire. Print a list of inspirations to be hung where it will be viewed on a daily basis. Maybe on the bathroom mirror. Inside the cabinet where you keep your morning coffee.
Finally, tell EVERYBODY. If you tell everybody, everybody will know and support what you are doing. They will ask you and hold you accountable for what you said you would accomplish. With this in mind, you could be the motivation for someone else.
Be Positive. Be Driven. Be Ambitious. Be Hungry
